#1 - Pay-Per-Click Search Engine Advertising The concept of Pay-Per-Click (PPC) search engine advertising is simple. You set up an account with Google, Yahoo Search Marketing or Microsoft Adcenter and then compete with other advertisers in an auction format to get top placement in the search engines based on different keywords or phrases. The more money you bid for a keyword or phrase, the higher up in the search rankings your ad will run. Every time a visitor clicks your ad and visits your website you are charged your bid price. So if you are bidding 50 cents a click and someone clicks your ad to visit your website your account is debited 50 cents. Pretty cool concept isn't it? Although this is a great way to get targeted traffic to your website there are a few drawbacks. First off, the home business keywords are flooded with thousands and thousands of home business entrepreneurs just like you who are all competing on the same keywords. This means that the cost per visitor is getting bigger everyday.
